connecting a TV to laptop

How do I do it if my laptop has a VGA and tv also has a VGA. I have the cord but what other steps are involved?

In most cases, nothing edisa from making sure the TV is set for the PC input. Have you tried to connect the two? If so what happened?

Turning both on.. TV 1st then the laptop reading the manual of the laptop so you know what sequence of buttons to push to make it work peter
